Beyond promoting health and discipline, the 2026 Quanis Race carries a strong community focus. Funds raised will support non-profit organisations involved in the back-to-school campaign, including Matsafeni’s Sesi Lomkhulu and the Mpumalanga Association for the Blind and Rehabilitation.

The managing director of Quanis Accounting and Tax Solutions, Sabelo Mkhwanazi, said these organisations play a vital role in empowering learners and supporting vulnerable groups in the province. “I chose these organisations after seeing the work they do in the community and the impact they have on beneficiaries. I believe in their objectives,” he said.

Mkhwanazi said his company has been providing free accounting services to these institutions and will continue to do so. He added that this is one of several community initiatives they are involved in.

“We reach out to local schools to educate learners about studying accounting and the opportunities it offers them. We give meaningful advice, as some schools do not have opportunities to attend national career guidance events. We also visit local non-profit organisations to share knowledge and educate them on how to manage their funds,” he said.

Mkhwanazi shared the organisation’s excitement ahead of the 2026 race and its new route. “It will take place at AGS Communio Church Nelspruit on Saturday, January 17. We are hosting it in partnership with Ngodwana Marathon Club,” he said.

“The runners will start at the church, head along Kaapsehoop Road, turn around just after Friends Café, and then make their way back to the finish line at the church. The route is designed to be both enjoyable and safe, accommodating professional runners, social runners and fitness enthusiasts alike.”

He said he hopes the event will inspire participants to start the year with commitment and focus.
