Mpumalanga social development gets new leadership

The newly appointed head of social development, Makhazasi Radebe, pledges open-door leadership and teamwork to meet the department's mandate.

The Mpumalanga MEC for social development, Nompumelelo Hlophe, has challenged the newly appointed head of department, Makhazasi Radebe, to transform the lives of those who rely on the department’s services.

Hlophe made the remarks during a welcoming gathering for Radebe at the Department of Social Development (DSD) on Monday, January 5. She also urged her to improve the DSD’s audit outcomes.

Radebe succeeds Sarel Mtsweni, who recently retired from public service. In her speech, she expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to join the DSD and said she looks forward to working with everyone.

She emphasised an open-door policy and noted that all staff have a role to play in ensuring the department meets its mandate and responds to the challenges faced by the people of Mpumalanga.
The DSD welcomed Radebe and wished Mtsweni all the best in his future endeavours.
