Mpumalanga welcomes new health professionals

As they were welcomed, they were reminded to keep the communities they will serve in mind, and that their service will help address workforce shortages.

In an effort to further strengthen healthcare systems in the province, the MEC for health, Sasekani Manzini, welcomed 590 health professionals at Nutting House Lodge on Thursday, January 22.

They are 85 medical interns and 505 community server personnel. These medical and pharmacy interns, and community servers personnel, will contribute to creating a sustainable, safe and high-quality health system for the people.

Speaking during the event, Manzini congratulated all the healthcare professionals for making it this far in their career journeys.

“This is the beginning of your journey to contribute to the people of Mpumalanga and to the department, to improve healthcare through your commitment and dedication to delivering healthcare services,” she said.

When speaking to the health professionals Manzini said: “We know that you will bring solutions to the department, contributing to improving access to healthcare coverage and consolidating clinical competencies. Through your service, delivery will be enhanced at districts and rural facilities, addressing workforce shortages.

To achieve the above-mentioned, you must understand your role in the department and the community that you serve.” Manzini reminded them to serve with dedication, commitment and professionalism so that the community can appreciate the service.
