Manyeveni stakeholders tackle illegal dumping to commemorate World Wetlands Day

A village clean-up campaign raised awareness about proper waste management and the vital role of wetlands.

In celebration of the World Wetlands Day, the City of Mbombela conducted a clean-up campaign and an informative session about waste management and illegal dumping in Manyeveni in KaBokweni on February 26.

The CoM partnered with Barberton Mines and the Ehlanzeni District Municipality to take meaningful steps towards environmental stewardship through a collaborative campaign, which included a wetland clean-up involving the removal of illegally dumped waste, litter picking, and clearing of invasive plants.

The informative session, held at Zamokuhle Disability Centre, dwelled into the negative impacts of illegal dumping on human health and the environment.
