Elderly resident of Likazi celebrates 100th birthday

From hardship to strength, 100-year-old Gogo Elina reflects on a life guided by prayer, family, and unwavering faith.

Gogo Phumile Elina Sithole, who is 100 years old, said prayer is what has kept her going this long. “I believe that when someone does something bad to you, the best solution is to pray for them. Revenge is not a solution,” said Gogo Elina, as she is affectionately known.

She is a tough woman who refuses to let life pass her by. She is still active, with only minor health challenges, and merely uses a walking stick for balance. Born on March 1, 1926, Gogo Elina never went to school and became a domestic worker at a young age.

“Do not roam the world without a relationship with God. He is the starter and the finisher. I thank God for guiding and protecting me to see my 100th year,” she said.
