Nkomazi learners benefit from much-needed kitchen

The aim of the initiative is to support early childhood development centres and to enhance learning.

The executive mayor of Ehlanzeni District Municipality (EDM), Cllr Terra Shabangu, handed over a much-needed kitchen to Thambokhulu Crèche in the Nkomazi Local Municipality (NLM), in a village next to the Mananga border. This initiative aims to support early childhood development in rural communities.

The objectives are to enhance the learning environment for young children at Thambokhulu Crèche and support the nutritional needs of the children.

In his address, Shabangu urged community members to take ownership of development initiatives and work together with the municipality to drive growth and prosperity in the district.

He also acknowledged the co-operation of the NLM for working together to make this initiative a success.

“We appreciate the support from our partners and sponsors, without whom this project wouldn’t be possible. We also encourage all food handlers to apply the knowledge gained from training to ensure safe and healthy food for our communities. Training empowers you to protect your families, customers and the broader community from food-borne diseases,” Shabangu said.

“As Nelson Mandela said, ‘South Africa is a rainbow nation, and working together, we can do more, irrespective of colour or gender.’ Let’s keep working together for a better community.”
