Joseph Mashaba, the founder of Lowveld Walkers, said they decided to honour the elderly because their presence has a positive impact on the team.

“The elderly citizens do not take part in unstructured events so to see them participating in what we are doing, shows that we are heading in the right direction. When we saw the number growing, we decided to celebrate them so they could see that we appreciate them.”

Gogo Nomsa Masilela said ever since she joined the walkers her life has changed. This 71-year-old said she is now able to sleep peacefully and her body aches have decreased.
