TS Galaxy FC looks to return to winning ways when they host the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates, in a crucial Betway Premier League encounter at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, March 22.

The Rockets head into the clash eager to bounce back from recent defeats and are hoping for a home ground turnaround.

Galaxy previously bested the Pirates when the Mpumalanga-based side famously secured a 1-0 victory over the Buccaneers at the same venue in May 2024. Orlando Pirates will arrive in Mbombela determined to continue their push in the competition.

The Buccaneers are known for their attacking strength and depth in the squad, which often makes them dangerous opponents both at home and away.

Sunday’s encounter is expected to be a high-intensity battle, with both teams chasing important points as the season progresses. For TS Galaxy, the match presents a crucial opportunity to break their losing streak and regain confidence in front of their home supporters.

Speaking to the publication, stadium spokesperson Mthuthu Zondo said all logistics in preparation for the game are in order.

Two locations for park-and-ride have been secured: the Government Complex in Riverside and Valencia Sports Ground. These are in addition to the open ground and soccer field outside the stadium, which are available for parking.

Zondo said the stadium expects to reach ticket sales of between 25 000 and 30 000. Almost 20 000 tickets were sold by Friday, March 20.
