Mbombela Stadium releases park-and-ride details for Kruger United vs Kaizer Chiefs
Free transport, designated pick-up points, and early-bird parking will help supporters avoid match-day traffic delays at the Betway Premiership opener.
Newcomers Kruger United kick off their first-ever Betway Premiership match against Kaizer Chiefs at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday, August 1, at 20:00.
The newly promoted Village Boys signed a three-year agreement on July 16 to use Mbombela Stadium as their primary home venue.
As this is a much-anticipated fixture and the opening Betway Premiership match of the 2026/27 season, Mbombela Stadium management, together with provincial and City of Mbombela law enforcement and the SAPS, has prepared a comprehensive traffic plan.
Park-and-ride services and schedules
Match ticket holders can make use of the free park-and-ride service operating from 17:00 to 00:00, with the last buses leaving the stadium between 23:00 and 23:30. Free and safe parking is provided at all pick-up points, with transport departing once full or every 15 to 30 minutes.
Buses will load east of the stadium at gates A and B, operating from Mpumalanga International FoodMarket (R37), Hoërskool Bergvlam, Lowveld High, and Nelspruit Primary. Taxis will operate from the government complex at Riverside Mall, loading south of the stadium at Gate E alongside buses from the food market.
Services run directly from pick-up points to the stadium before the match, while post-match transport follows a circular drop-off route. To reduce confusion, sectors are limited to Mbombela for buses and Riverside for taxis. Passengers should confirm their destination with the driver when boarding and return to their original drop-off location after the game.

Stadium and permit parking
Permit holders for hospitality, VIP, disabled access, and media must clearly display their permit to be ushered along reserved lanes on Matsafeni Drive. Access is via the P166 stadium link road between Riverside and Mataffin.
Non-permit holders can access free early-bird parking at the stadium from 16:00 on a first-come, first-served basis, though tipping car guards is encouraged. Limited general parking is available until 18:00, after which Samora Machel Drive closes and motorists must divert to park-and-ride facilities.
Additional parking is available at the old sports fields, the pecan orchard on the stadium perimeter, and north of Samora Machel Drive opposite Halls Gateway. Drivers must park where marshalled and avoid reserving spaces.
Road closures
Once early-bird parking fills up or at 18:00, Samora Machel Drive will close between Graniet Street and the N4–Mataffin split. Vehicle access permit holders will remain permitted through the closure.
