“It is reported that the security officer had just collected cash from one of the shops at Lowveld Mall and was walking towards the cash van when he was accosted by a suspect who took out a firearm and fired shots, ordering him to drop the money bag,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo.

“It is further alleged that two more suspects came and took the money bag, ran to a white Toyota bakkie and drove off,” added Masondo.

The security officer was shot in the leg and taken by ambulance to a local medical facility.

No arrests have been made and police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspects to please call the nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
