Don’t miss your last opportunity to register to vote in February.

How to find your voring stations and how to register for the 2014 national and provincial elections

If you missed the previous opportunity register for this years elections, you have been given a second chance to register, and it is less that two weeks away. To register, make sure you know where to register, when can you register, how to register and what is required.

How to register for the 2014 national and provincial elections:

• Make sure you have a green South African identity document with a barcode. If you don’t have one, apply for one at the department of home affairs.
• If you have already registered to vote in a previous national or local election, you can check whether your name is on the voters roll. Do this by checking the voter registration details on the IEC website or send an SMS containing your ID number to 32810. Note: It takes approximately seven days for applications to be processed.
• To register, you need to apply in person and take your green ID book or smartcard ID, or a Temporary Identity Certificate if you don’t have an ID book.
• South Africans currently abroad, are now able to register due to the electoral amendment bill 2013 being approved by Parliament and signed into law by President Jacob Zuma. Remember, you’ll need your South African ID book as well as your passport to register in this case. You can apply for registration at your nearest South African embassy, high commission or consulate.

Where can I register?

You can register at your correct voting station on  February 8 and 9 from 8:00 to 17:00. However, if you’re outside your voting district on Election Day you may vote at another voting station in South Africa. If you’re outside the province where you’re registered, you’ll only be able to vote in the national election and not the provincial election, and you’ll be asked to complete a form (VEC 4) at the voting station.  To find your voting station use the station finder or call 0800-11-8000 (open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm). You can also apply for registration at your local Municipal Electoral Office during office hours, but please phone first to make an appointment.

How the station finder works:

Step 1: Click on here to find your station (which is now working correctly)

Step 3

Step 4
Step 4, click on your suburb, the voting station will then appear

It is that simple! After your last chance to register, the election dates will be announced.
