Local producer wins national award

"It's really exciting to know that the work we put in on a daily basis, is recognised. I'd be lying if I were to say I did this on my own, it really was a team effort.

Ligwalagwala FM’s Asambe Drive Show (ADS) producer, Sifiso Malisa, is number one in the entire country after he has won the award for best content producer at the MTN Radio Awards. The show has come out number one and beat radio stations such as Motsoeding FM, and SA FM.

“It’s really exciting to know that the work we put in on a daily basis, is recognised. I’d be lying if I were to say I did this on my own, it really was a team effort.

I have worked with my then team, Shabba and Mpumie Mbete, and I should also give credit to them for the work they have put in,” said Sifiso.

Receiving such awards are not strange to Sifiso, his team won the best presenter category last year. “This time last year we were in a celebratory mood as well. Shabba had won the best presenter award. We are encouraged to put in a lot of energy and creativity in our work all the time, because we see the results and that to us is the
way to go.”

Sifiso says his passion for radio is what keeps him going and gives him the urge to try new things all the time.

“Our focus of late is the 21 years of democracy. Our shows are centered on that. We want the young generation to keep up with the realities of what is going on around them, just as much as they keep up with swag and style.”

The communications manager of the station, Nyiko Makukule, weighed in on the matter to express its pride regarding the ADS team’s achievements.

“We were competing with stations that are rated highly. A panel of experts and veterans in the radio industry sat down and in one voice, decided that we are deserving of the award.

The station is really proud of the team. This is only the beginning, we are gunning for more awards in the national realm. The aim is to stay relevant and on top,” said the ecstatic Nyiko.

The show airs every weekday from 15:00 to 18:00.
