According to Sandile Ngobe, organiser of the awards, “This year we’ve decided to involve the community in voting for the nominees and eventually the winners.
The voting category carries a cash prize of R10 000, a trophy and a certificate and we’ve added new categories which include the amaZions, ZCC and Amadodana categories. We have tried to include most christian denominations.
The benefits of being nominated among the finalists will give each group a free ticket to feature in the Crossover Festival on December 31 organised by the provincial Moral Regeneration Movement, an opportunity to be watched by the entire provincial audience.
This is an opportunity no artist would want to miss. The closing date for submission of entry forms is September 30 so that the community can have more time to cast their votes.”
For the voting category, the entry fee is R600 and for the other categories it is R400.
The voting category includes song of the year, best female artist, best male, best worship song, best amaZion group, worship, instrumental, lead singer, composer and solo artist. It also includes the best ZCC album and ZCC composer.
There is also the best gospel producer, best rap gospel, best kwaito gospel and best R&B gospel.
Other sections in the voting category include best gospel community radio, best gospel presenter, best Afrikaans gospel, best gospel group, artist, clap and tap and the best acapella.
The judging category has the following sections: best traditional gospel song, best songwriter, best new comer, best contemporary album, classic of all times, best music video, best gospel poetry, best sound engineer, best DVD, best amaZion soloist, best praise song and best collaboration album. There is also a national category.
“In the churches category entrants need to supply supporting media articles, if available and three references, a biography and visuals.
