Storms hit Nkomazi residences and businesses

A truck overturned on the N4, allegedly due to the driver’s fatigue.

A truck driver suffered minor injuries when he lost control of his truck on the N4 between the Kaalrug intersection and Air Street heading towards Malalane today, October 29.

It is suspected that the driver was fatigued and had fallen asleep behind the wheel, causing his truck to overturn. However, the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison’s spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, said the cause of the accident is still unknown. “We confirm that the truck driver was slightly injured in the accident,” he said, and called on motorists to be cautious and avoid driving while tired.

“We are grateful that there was no loss of life in this incident. We are, however, calling on motorists and truck drivers to be vigilant at all times, and we further urge them to take regular breaks during long journeys. Fatigue also kills, and it affects quality decision-making on the part of drivers,” said Mmusi.
