Health facilities get backup power boost in Mpumalanga

The People’s Republic of China donated emergency energy equipment to Mpumalanga’s Department of Health, strengthening backup power capacity at healthcare facilities across the province.

The MEC for health, Sasekani Manzini, received emergency energy equipment for the Department of Health on Thursday, May 21. The donation consisted of solar power systems, seven diesel generators and inventories.

The equipment, donated by the People’s Republic of China through the minister of electricity, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, was handed over by the MEC for public works, Thulasizwe Thomo, at the Mpumalanga International Fresh Produce Market.

The equipment will be utilised as backup power in healthcare facilities to ensure services are not disrupted during power outages or reduction periods.
