Pilot performs emergency landing, survives

'Pilot in his 20s escaped serious injury after performing an emergency landing on a farm off the R553 in Lanseria' – ER24.

ER24 confirmed that the pilot who miraculously survived a light aircraft crash in a field near Lanseria Airport on Friday morning performed an emergency landing.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring the pilot is in his 20s.

He escaped serious injury after performing an emergency landing on a farm off the R553 in Lanseria. ER24, Lanseria Fire and other services arrived at 10:10 to find the small aircraft upside down in a large field. The man had already managed to climb out of his aircraft.

“Medics assessed him and found that he had sustained only moderate injuries. Fortunately, there were no other occupants in the aircraft at the time of the incident. The man is currently being treated for his injuries and will be transported to a nearby hospital for further care.”

The details surrounding this incident are unknown, but local authorities are on the scene to conduct an investigation.
