Gauteng court sentences man guilty of 2021 love-triangle murder

After getting jealous when another man was at his ex-wife's house, the man stabbed his former partner's new boyfriend 10 times.

Fezile Lomo (39) was sentenced to 15 years behind bars for murder and a further six months for assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm.

The sentence was handed down in the Westonaria Magistrate’s Court recently.

Gauteng NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane says on December 24, 2021, Lomo went to his ex-wife Nomvuyiseko Ncebe’s house and found her sitting with her boyfriend Sakhumzi Siyo and her two friends.

Lomo got angry when he saw Ncele in the house. He then left and later returned with his cousins. Lomo then forced his way into the house and started fighting with Siyo.

Ncele intervened by getting between them. Lomo then took out a knife and stabbed Siyo. According to Mjonondwane, a post mortem revealed that Lomo stabbed Siyo 10 times.

Lomo was at large from the night of the murder until he handed himself over to the police on December 31, 2021. The matter was finalised on Thursday.

The state managed to successfully oppose the bail application. State advocate Moss Malahlela argued for a firm sentence in the case and said that the offence committed is prevalent throughout the country.
