Young SA farmer still in hospital after accident in USA

The 21-year-old has been working as a farmer overseas and was driving a quadbike when the incident occurred.

The family of local farmer Adriaan Taute, who was in an ICU-ward after being hit by a van in the USA, is asking for prayers hoping that their loved one bounces back to good health.

Taute is currently in hospital and was meant to undergo a skin graft on his leg on August 4 following the serious accident.

The 21-year-old has been working as a farmer overseas and was driving a quadbike when the incident occurred in June. Taute was hit by a van while crossing from one farm to another on a quadbike in Montana in the USA.

He is the son of Gauteng Red Meat Producers chairperson Jaco Taute.

According to family spokesperson JP de Beer, this will be the second skin graft that will be done on Taute.

“Taute is recovering in hospital but it’s not looking too good. His first skin graft failed. Doctors need to clean his wound first and we are hoping for the best,” said De Beer, who added that Adriaan’s mother Susan is very emotional at this stage.

Susan is in the USA with him and the Taute family needs prayers to keep them strong during this difficult time.

Taute was also in the news last year, after he was shot in a farm attack while he was on his way out of his parents’ family farm. He survived the attack.
