The cause of a light aircraft crash in which a pilot was killed this afternoon will be investigated.

A pilot was killed in a light aircraft accident in the Boschkop area of Pretoria East this afternoon.

Pretoria Rekord reports that according to the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit team (Vemru), the accident was reported just after 16:00.

“On arrival, we found a small one-seater aeroplane that had crashed in a veld.

“The pilot was assessed, found to have sustained fatal injuries, and was declared dead.”

Vemru says the scene was handed over to SAPS, which, along with the Civil Aviation Authority, will investigate the cause of the accident.

Vemru is a registered NPO and public benefit organisation that responds to medical and trauma emergencies free of charge.
