Ford hands EcoBoost V6 petrol heart to Everest, but with a catch
Wearing the Tremor instead of the Raptor designation, the petrol V6 Everest becomes the most powerful ever made.
Until now reserved only for Australia, Ford has introduced a second variant of the Everest Tremor, this time exclusively for the Middle East.
Petrol V6 replaces diesel V6
Although sourced from the same plant in Thailand as the Australian and, indeed, the South African market models, the ‘second’ Tremor swaps the 3.0-litre Lion turbodiesel V6 engine for the 2.7 EcoBoost V6 used in the North American Ranger and F-150.
Positioned above the 2.3 EcoBoost that had been the sole option available in the Middle East, the bent-six outputs 265kW/500Nm, which goes to all four wheels via the General Motors co-developed 10-speed automatic gearbox.
Officially the most powerful Everest ever made, despite its torque figure being 100Nm down on the oil-burning V6, the Tremor is otherwise largely identical to the Australian version aesthetically.

This includes the standard fitting of grey 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tyres, gloss black cladding around the wheel arches, a black honeycomb grille, roof rails, black mirror caps and side-steps, and orange Tremor badges with black decals at the base of the front doors.
Underneath, the Bilstein position-sensitive dampers and shock absorbers have also been carried over, along with the widened front track.
As with its sibling, no changes have taken place inside, meaning the same specification as the Sport variant, which sits between the Active and Platinum in the Middle Eastern range.

Devised as a ‘Middle East exclusive’ that also becomes the new flagship above the Platinum, the petrol Everest Tremor won’t, therefore, be offered in any other market as an alternative to the Lion turbodiesel.
As such, the latter will remain the top-spec engine option in Thailand, Australia and South Africa, with the local market set to receive the realigned Everest range – which includes the mentioned 2.3 EcoBoost in place of the discontinued 2.0-litre Panther bi-turbodiesel – within the coming months.
