3 suspects arrested after high speed chase in Garsfontein

A high-speed chase between three men driving a black Toyota Corolla and a local security company resulted in an accident on the corner of Solomon Mahlangu Drive and Atterbury Road.

The men were apprehended by Garsfontein police, Pretoria Rekord reports.

A chase ensued between the men and Bull Security after the team received a tip-off from a resident in Delfi Avenue in Garsfontein.

Bull Security spokesperson French Jooste said the men had gained access to the resident’s house.

“Officers from Bull pulled the vehicle over, but as soon as our team got out of their vehicles, the men drove off,” Jooste said.

“A high-speed chase ensued between the response unit and the suspects.

“They skipped a traffic light and caused an accident in which two other vehicles were involved,” said Jooste

“A firearm and stolen goods were recovered.”

According to Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit (Vemru) spokesperson Casper Visser, the motorists involved in the accident sustained minor injuries.

“Two patients were treated on scene and were taken to hospital for observation.”

“The suspects did not sustain any injuries,” said Visser.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Duane Lightfoot confirmed the arrest but couldn’t provide more details.

“The police are still at the scene where they are currently busy with the investigation.”
