Abducted Burgersfort businessman reunited with his family

Solly Tayob was on June 2 forcefully taken from his dealership in town and a multi-disciplinary task team was put together.

Burgersfort businessman Solly ‘Uncle Solly’ Tayob (65) has been reunited with his family after a dedicated multi-disciplinary investigation task team led by the provincial head of Hawks in Limpopo, Major-General Gopz Govender.

The team successfully located and reunited Tayob with his family yesterday.

According to the Limpopo Hawks, two suspects are behind bars for the abduction. They briefly appeared in the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court yesterday and they are due to reappear on Monday.

The team that succeeded in apprehending the suspects was made up of the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit, Limpopo Provincial Crime Scene Management, Local Criminal Record Centre, Burgersfort Highway Patrol and Bravalor Risk Private Investigators.

“The multi-disciplinary team embarked on a 27-day intensive cyber forensic and unconventional investigative operation to ensure the successful recovery of the victim. The dealership owner of Burgersfort Toyota, Burgersfort Hyundai , Burgersfort Suzuki and JAC, was kidnapped on June 2 at about 19:45 from his Hyundai dealership by heavily armed suspects, with military precision,” revealed Limpopo Hawks spokesperson Warrant Officer Lethunya Mmurua.

He said the Hawks pursued the investigation with vigour and tenacity to ensure the safe recovery of the victim.

“The victim’s family has highly appreciated the multi-disciplinary task team‘s intervention and its success and endurance. Police investigations are ongoing,” added Mmuroa.

The national head of the Hawks, Lieutenant-General Godfrey Lebeya, commended the team for the work executed.
