Bramley View residents threaten to burn shacks if they are not removed

The residents said they were unhappy about shacks that had been built on the border of Kew and Bramley View.

Metro police officials are currently clearing Canning Road in Bramley View, Johannesburg after a number of residents blocked the road with burning tyres.

The residents, who began protesting at 4am this morning, said they were unhappy about shacks that had been built on the border of Kew and Bramley View, the North Eastern Tribune reports.

They said the shacks would depreciate property values and lead to many social ills in the area.

Residents also voiced their concerns about ward councillor Irene Rugheimer, blaming her for not doing anything.

This is the second time residents have protested in one month.
