Bullets fly in attempted eMalahleni CIT heist
Five suspects were shot dead, three were injured and another four were arrested after allegedly trying to push a CIT vehicle off the road.
In a scene worthy of a Hollywood action movie, a shoot-out between police and an alleged cash-in-transit (CIT) heist ‘gang’ occurred in Tasbet Park 1 in eMalahleni yesterday.
According to police, the ‘gang’ allegedly attempted to push a CIT vehicle off the road in what is believed to be an unsuccessful attempted heist in Klipfontein.
The CIT company tipped the police off about the vehicle and the police went looking for the suspects and vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, at 10:30, gunshots rang through the air as the suspects came around a corner and drove straight towards the Tactical Response Team (TRT).
