Dagga found in child’s underwear

A man has been detained after allegedly instructing his 11-year-old daughter to hide dagga in her underwear.

Boksburg North police spokesperson Lieutenant Juanita Coetzer said the girl’s claim had been made when police approached the man recently with the intention of conducting a body search,Boksburg Advertiser reported.

The Germiston Flying Squad had been observing the parking area at the corner of Trichardts and North Rand roads when they saw the girl’s father buying what seemed to have been an illegal substance.

“They stopped the man to investigate and searched him and his vehicle. They could, however, not find anything on him or in his vehicle,” said Coetzer.

“The man had his 11-year-old daughter with him, so the officers accompanied them to the Boksburg North Police Station, where two policewomen were asked to search the girl. This is when they discovered dagga cigarettes on her,” she added.

The male suspect was detained at the police station.

On Monday, Gauteng railway police discovered a dagga plantation in Lewisham, Krugersdorp.

It was alleged the dagga plantation had been grown around the railway lines and then harvested and sold to users.
