Four arrested after Soshanguve Pep store robbery

Four men have been arrested after they robbed a Pep store at a shopping complex in Soshanguve, near Pretoria.

Police spokesperson Captain Riana van Aarde said the men hit the Pep store at the Thorntree shopping complex in Soshanguve around 12.30pm on Tuesday, Rekord North reported.

They suspects reportedly fled with an undisclosed amount of money and about 300 cellphones.

“An off-duty police officer witnessed the robbery and called for back-up. A police chase ensued and the suspected robbers were arrested,” she said.

Van Aarde said the robbers lost control of their vehicle and ended up in an open field where they were arrested.

The four men were expected to appear in court soon.

Earlier this week, police arrested two suspected robbers following ahijacking and car chase at Glenfair Shopping Centre in Pretoria.

The men allegedly hijacked a delivery van at the shopping complex, after which a description of one of the get-away vehicles was given to a police helicopter.

The police helicopter then traced the vehicle to an underground parking lot at another shopping centre.

The suspects, who were in the vicinity, were later arrested.
