Fuel price drop tomorrow brings early holiday relief
There will be less pain at the pumps for motorists as the November fuel price adjustment sees decreases across the board.
Motorists will welcome the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy’s announcement of a decrease in fuel prices, effective tomorrow.
Zululand Observer reports that, after several months of fluctuating costs, the latest fuel adjustment offers much-needed relief for South Africans, especially as the festive season approaches.
Brent crude oil prices remained between $58 and $68 per barrel in October, while the rand held steady at around R17.30 to the dollar, creating favourable conditions for the reduction.
Fuel drop breakdown:
- Petrol 93 and 95: Down by 51 cents per litre
- Diesel 0.05%: Down by 21 cents per litre
- Diesel 0.005%: Down by 19 cents per litre
- Paraffin: Down by 1 cent per litre
What to do with these savings
While it’s tempting to put every cent of your fuel savings towards festive season indulgences, it’s best to take a more balanced approach.
Consider setting aside a portion of what you save at the pumps into a savings account for January’s back-to-school and other unplanned expenses.
Families can also use this opportunity to teach children about financial planning by saving together towards a shared goal.
This could be a short getaway, a household improvement, or simply building an emergency fund for the new year.
You could also reinvest those savings into your community by supporting businesses and charities, from markets and restaurants to accommodation and guided tours.
