Petrol price to drop on Wednesday

Less pain at the pumps for motorists as November fuel price adjustment sees decreases across the board.

Motorists will be pleased to learn that the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has announced a welcome decrease in fuel prices effective Wednesday.

After several months of fluctuating costs, the latest fuel adjustment offers much-needed relief for South Africans, especially as the festive season looms.

Brent crude oil prices remained between $58 and $68 per barrel during October, while the rand held steady at around R17.30 to the dollar, creating favourable conditions for the reduction.

Fuel drop breakdown:

· Petrol 93 and 95: down by 51 cents per litre

· Diesel 0.05%: down by 21 cents per litre

· Diesel 0.005%: down by 19 cents per litre

· Paraffin: down by 1 cent per litre

What to do with those savings

While it’s tempting to put every cent of your fuel savings toward festive season indulgences, it’s best to take a more balanced approach.

Consider setting aside a portion of what you save at the pumps into a savings account for January’s back-to-school and other unplanned expenses.

Families can also use this opportunity to teach children about financial planning by saving together toward a shared goal.

This could be a short getaway, a household improvement, or simply building an emergency fund for the new year.

You could reinvest those savings into your community by supporting Zululand businesses and charities, from markets and restaurants to accommodation and guided tours.

This not only helps strengthen the regional economy, but also ensures a more meaningful and sustainable holiday experience.
