Gauteng Covid-19 active cases at 19 204

Gauteng’s overall Covid-19 positive cases climbed to 221 061 with 197 553 recoveries and 4 304 deaths thus far, according to figures published by the Department of Health.
This saw the province having about 19 204 active cases. The Gauteng province recorded 151 new cases on Monday.
The Department of Health said out of 141 057 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 123 986 people have completed the 10 days monitoring period, with no symptoms reported and were de-isolated.
The number of hospitalised people due to Covid-19 in the province stood at 1 597.
Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:
- Johannesburg: 88 175 cases and 82 588 recoveries
- Ekurhuleni: 49 597 cases and 48 361 recoveries
- Tshwane: 49 266 cases and 42 929 recoveries
- Sedibeng: 14 984 cases and 11 580 recoveries
- West Rand: 14 226 cases and 12 095 recoveries
