Gauteng Covid-19 cases surpass 217 000
113 new cases were recorded.

The Gauteng province recorded 113 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, as overall positive cases climbed to 217 485.
There have been 193 429 recoveries and 4 039 deaths thus far, while province had about 20 017 active cases, according to figures published by the department of health.
The department said out of 136 318 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 119 193 people have completed the 10 days monitoring period, with no symptoms reported and were de-isolated.
The number of hospitalised people due to Covid-19 in the province stood at 1 804.
Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:
- Johannesburg: 87 038 cases and 81 409 recoveries
- Ekurhuleni: 48 871 cases and 47 543 recoveries
- Tshwane: 48 002 cases and 41 212 recoveries
- Sedibeng: 14 767 cases and 11 351 recoveries
- West Rand: 14 049 cases and 11 914 recoveries
