Gauteng police sergeant arrested after husband’s death

The husband died in hospital after sustaining four gunshot wounds.

The police watchdog, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate, has arrested a sergeant from Akasia, north of Pretoria, for the murder of her husband.

Spokesperson Robbie Raburabu says it is alleged that things took a wrong turn when the husband pulled a gun on his wife during an argument at around 00:30 yesterday.

“The husband had allegedly taken the sergeant’s official firearm from her handbag.”

He says the sergeant grabbed the firearm from the husband as the pair scuffled.

“The firearm was discharged during the scuffle and the husband sustained four gunshot wounds,” Raburabu adds.

He later died in hospital

The sergeant will appear in court soon.
