Germiston murder suspects arrested
Three suspects have been arrested after the murder of a local business owner in Germiston, Gauteng.
It was alleged Germiston police officers were out on patrol when they saw people running in an open veld and decided to pursue them, Germiston City News reported.
The officers had managed to arrest one of the suspects and found a firearm in his possession, police said.
It was believed police officers had received a call about a business robbery in Moller Road, Germiston South.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer André de Jager said the officers had questioned the suspect about the business robbery, and he had admitted he and his friends had robbed the business.
They had then gone to the home of one of the suspect’s friends in Germiston Extension 9, and arrested another two suspects, added De Jager.
De Jager said upon their arrival at the scene, the officers had discovered the suspects had shot and killed the 45-year-old business owner.
Police said the suspects, aged 24, 25 and 28, had been arrested and detained at the Germiston police station, and the firearm had been booked in as evidence.
Earlier this month, two suspects were arrested for allegedly business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in KwaMashu, Durban.
It was alleged the unidentified victim had been at his tuck shop in J section, KwaMashu, when he was approached by three suspects at gunpoint at about 3pm.
They threatened him with a firearm and took an undisclosed amount of cash and airtime vouchers before they fled the scene on foot, police said.
Police responded immediately after the robbery was reported and managed to arrest two suspectswith the help of the community.
