The wait to unveil South Africa’s kit for the World Cup has seemingly ended, with the first look at the jersey – and placement of the Springbok emblem – being revealed.

SA Rugby is yet to officially reveal the match jersey for the Boks’ defence of the Webb Ellis Cup, but the official Rugby World Cup 2023 website has released the various supporters’ jerseys that include the famous green and gold of the world champions.

The main options for Bok fans are the men’s World Cup match replica jersey and the stadium replica jersey, along with a stadium replica of the away jersey first seen in the warm-up match against Argentina – and set to be worn by the Boks in their World Cup opener against Scotland on September 10.

The men’s match replica jersey is a strong indicator of the ‘real thing’ expected to be worn by captain Siya Kolisi and his men in France, and the right sleeve is embossed with SA’s three World Cup title wins (1995, 2007 and 2019).

The Bok emblem, which is always seen on the front right of the national team jersey, has been moved to the left sleeve as World Rugby requires an official tournament logo to be placed on the front of jerseys.

South Africa’s general sport symbol, the king Protea, and kit sponsor Nike are still in place, on the left and centre respectively.
