KZN man sentenced to life for brutal rape, assault and kidnapping of ex-girlfriend

The man hit the woman on her head and dragged her to his room where he tied her to a pole and assaulted her.

The Umlazi Regional Court in Durban on Thursday sentenced a 26-year-old man to four life sentences for raping his ex-girlfriend.

Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, KZN spokesperson for the NPA, said the man was sentenced to an additional 15 years imprisonment for assault with the intention to grievous bodily harm and kidnapping of his ex-girlfriend in May 2022.

“At some point before the incident, the pair were in a relationship and shared a baby. However, the [woman] (29), went back to live with her parents. On the day of the incident, the complainant went to the accused’s home to fetch diapers for their child when he attacked her,” said Ramkisson-Kara.
