KZN soldier accused of wife’s murder: Family provides new evidence

The victim's family has provided 'shocking' new evidence in the case that involves former soldier Lwanda Mxolisi Zungu.

New evidence provided by the family of former soldier Lwanda Mxolisi Zungu’s wife, who he is charged with killing her in January, has resulted in the magistrate needing more time to make a decision in his bail application.

Zungu allegedly shot his wife, Tania, multiple times in their Pinetown home in KZN.

Pinetown magistrate Gwendolyn Robinson said there were certain issues she needed to deal with, and query with defence advocate Muzi Mzelemu, before she could move on with the bail application.

Tania’s mother, Gwen Msane, said she was not surprised the matter was adjourned, as she expected that the new evidence they presented to the prosecutor would need to be evaluated.

She said the ‘shocking’ information must have caught the defence by surprise.
