WATCH: Ladysmith water levels slowly decrease as roads remain blocked

Public safety officers are manning areas with high traffic volumes.

LADYSMITH – The level of the flood waters is slowly decreasing in Ladysmith.

Since yesterday (January 17), the water levels at Qedusizi Dam and the Soofie bridge are showing a downward trajectory. Readings taken yesterday at 16:40 were: Qedusizi Dam – 12,3m; and Soofie bridge – 7.85m.

The readings taken at 07:00 this morning (January 18) are: Qedusizi Dam – 10.6m; and Soofie bridge – 7.6m.

This shows that the water is indeed going down, but at a very slow rate. Reports this morning indicate that all roads in the low-lying areas of the CBD are still water-logged and blocked.
