Load-shedding: Your schedule for this weekend
Eskom says slightly lower stages of load-shedding will be implemented over the weekend, thanks to a number of generation units that have been returned to service.

According to the power utility, seven generation units have recently been returned to service.
“During the same period six generating units that needed urgent repairs during the strike have been taken offline for repairs. This is made possible by the full return to work of all striking employees over the past two days,” Eskom said in a media statement.
Adding to that, 600MW of capacity from the Hydroelectrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB) in Mozambique was returned to service, boosting available generation capacity.
“Over the next few days nine generation units are anticipated to return to service, which will further improve generation capacity. This will, however, still require Eskom to continue implementing loadshedding for the foreseeable future until the situation has been normalised.”
The power utility said emergency generation reserves have been adequately replenished and will be used to limit the stage of load-shedding.
“We currently have 3 349MW on planned maintenance, while another 16 865MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.”
The load-shedding schedule for the next few days is as follows:
Friday:
00:00 – 05:00: Stage 2
05:00 – 24:00: Stage 4
Saturday:
00:00 – 07:00: Stage 2
07:00 – 24:00: Stage 3
Sunday:
00:00 – 16:00: Stage 2
16:00 – 24:00: Stage 3
The loads-shedding schedule for next week is dependent on generation units that have to be returned to service. Eskom said the schedule will be confirmed closer to the time.
