Man appears for Ty’s nightclub murder
A 38-year-old man is expected to appear in the Pretoria Regional Court today for a stabbing incident outside Ty’s nightclub in Pretoria last week.
Police spokesperson Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng said the man had been arrested on Friday evening in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Shane Boruchowitz on Thursday, Rekord East reported.
Private investigator Gene Kotton had been appointed by the family to assist police investigate the death of Boruchowitz. Kotton said Boruchowitz and his brother were embroiled in a scuffle on Thursday morning with two other men outside the club after accidentally bumping into them.
Two bouncers, allegedly from Ty’s nightclub intervened. Kotton said one of the burly bouncers apparently pulled a knife and stabbed Boruchowitz twice. The 23-year-old fell to the ground, hitting his head.
Jannie Oosthuizen, owner of Ty’s nightclub said on Friday morning the incident was unacceptable.
“We have always prided ourselves on the safety of our patrons. We will cooperate with the police investigation in any way we can.”
Boruchowitz was laid to rest on Friday shortly after his death, as per Jewish custom.
