Man beaten, dumped at school after hijacking
Investigations are under way after a 51-year-old man was hijacked while waiting for a traffic light to change in Dalview, Brakpan, on the East Rand.
The incident occurred at about 6.30pm on the corner of Van Der Walt Road and Gloucester Avenue, as the man was on his way home from work, Brakpan Herald reported
“I was busy smoking and waiting for the traffic light to change when suddenly I felt a gun against my throat and a voice that said ‘Open your doors’,” said the victim who asked to remain anonymous.
“As I unlocked my car doors the hijacker’s accomplice jumped into the passenger side and hit me on the face with something that I believe was a gun. I passed out from the heavy blow and woke up in front of Laerskool Dalview at around 7pm,” added the victim.
“I yelled out for help and a man living opposite the school immediately came out and helped me,” the victim said.
“My face feels very sensitive and sore, but luckily the doctors told me that I didn’t break any bones.”
A case of hijacking was opened at Brakpan Police Station.
In a separate incident, CCTV footage emerged showing a group of suspected fake police officers hijacking a car at a traffic light in Mayfair, Johannesburg.
In the footage captured on Thursday, July 30, on the corner of 6th and Church streets, the suspects’ vehicle is seen pulling over in front of the victim’s car at a traffic light.
Three suspects get out and one of them is seen approaching the passenger’s seat and seemingly produced some sort of identification.
The victim was ordered to the suspects’ vehicle while another suspect drives off in the victim’s car.
