What started out as a night having drinks with friends quickly turned violent when a man shot his friend.
A man is facing attempted murder charges after shooting his friend.
Captain Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson said they arrested a 32-year-old man in Extension 12 for attempted murder on 30 September – more than a month after the incident on 22 August.
The victim said that at about 2am on 22 August, he was having drinks with friends when one of his friends stood up, drew his firearm and shot at him without saying anything.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the right upper body and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition,” explained Sibiya.
The incident was reported to the Kagiso Police and a manhunt was launched for the suspect.
“Police got a tip-off from a concerned resident on the suspect’s whereabouts. Police followed the information which led to the apprehension of the suspect.”
The suspect will be appearing in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
Brigadier Themba Maduna, the Kagiso Police station commander issued a warning, saying, “You can run as much as you like, but you will not forever hide from the long arm of the law.
No one will commit crime and expect to just live a normal life as if there is no law. As police we are in charge and will not tolerate lawlessness. I also want to plead with members of the public to report anyone in possession of a firearm that they suspect to be illegal.”
