Man hunt launched for tavern shooters
No arrests have been made after four unknown men allegedly walked into a tavern and shot the owner and an employee in the Waterloo vicinity, in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal.
Gauteng police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said the suspects stormed in the tavern on September 8 and fired shots wounding a 50-year-old male and a woman before fleeing the scene. The victims were taken to hospital in a critical condition, Phoenix Sun reported.
A case of two counts attempted murder is currently under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call Warrant Officer Mark Prakasim on 079-500-1242 or 032-541-5214.
In a separate incident, a man was killed and another injured after a shooting that took place during the night of April 7 at a tavern in Mathulini Ward, Hibberdene, in KwaZulu-Natal, in May.
It is alleged the shooting took place inside the tavern in front of other patrons. A warrant of arrest was issued for Thabani Selby Luthuli, 33, the suspect.
Hibberdene police appealed to the public to assist them in tracing the whereabouts of the wanted suspect.
