Man killed outside Ty’s nightclub

A Johannesburg man was stabbed to death outside the popular Ty’s nightclub in Pretoria, shortly after midnight on Thursday morning.

Shane Boruchowitz, 23, died in his brother’s arms, allegedly after a scuffle with bouncers outside the clubRekord East reported.

Gene Kotton, a private investigator has been appointed by the family to help police investigate Boruchowitz’s murder.

According to Kotton, Boruchowitz and his brother had become embroiled in a scuffle with two other men outside the club after accidentally bumping into them.

Two bouncers, allegedly from Ty’s nightclub, then ran out and intervened. Kotton said one of the bouncers then apparently pulled out a knife and stabbed Shane Boruchowitz twice.

Boruchowitz’s brother, fearing for his own life ran out into the parking lot of the Piazza. According to Kotton the brother was then chased by the same knife-wielding bouncer.

“The brother ran and hid under a car of the Land Rover dealership across the road and phoned his father, saying there were men trying to kill them,” said Kotton.

Boruchowitz’s father, Colin, rushed to Pretoria from Johannesburg and alerted Kotton and paramedics. Boruchowitz died in his brother’s arms shortly after the brother returned to his aid.

Kotton said the death certificate stated Boruchowitz did not die from the stab wound, but from the head injury which he sustained when he fell down.

Ty’s nightclub owner Jannie Oosthuizen expressed his shock at the murder.

“This is not acceptable. We have always prided ourselves on the safety of our patrons,” said Oosthuizen.

“We will cooperate with the police investigation in any way we can.”

Police spokesperson Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng confirmed Brooklyn police were investigating a case of murder.
