Man’s body pulled from Durban harbour

Paramedics who assessed the man determined he had been in the water for a long time.

A man’s body was recovered from Durban Harbour on Wednesday.

Netcare 911 responded to reports of a drowning at the Wilson’s Wharf area of the Durban harbour, the Southlands Sunreported.

“People at the wharf area noticed a body floating in the water, and a nearby boat pulled the man from the water in the hopes of rescuing him and brought him ashore near the yacht berth area,” said Netcare 911 spokesperson Nick Dollman.

Paramedics who assessed the man, who they believe was about 45-years-old, determined he had been in the water for a long time and he was declared dead at the scene.

Police are investigating.
