Missing KZN women found dead

They were last seen alive when getting into an e-hailing vehicle at the crèche where they worked.

The bodies of two elderly women, who were reported missing on August 9, were found in a shallow grave in Umgababa yesterday.

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says Zanele Doris Mbuso (61) and Moni Sophia Xulu (81) were reported missing after they were last seen in an e-hailing vehicle from their workplace at Thembeni Crèche.

Netshiunda says investigations by the Umkomaas detectives, Durban Search and Rescue and eThekwini District Task Team pointed the police to a shallow grave just outside the fence of the crèche.

“The two victims were found buried with plastic over their heads and were tied with a rope,” he says.

A security guard, who worked at the crèche, was arrested and will appear in court next week.

The motive for the murders has not been made public.
