Naked body found on KZN beach
An inquest docket has been opened by police after the naked body of a man was found on Margate beach in KwaZulu-Natal.
The unidentified man’s body was found near a holiday flat by officers conducting foot patrols on the beach last Thursday, South Coast Herald reported.
“The officers tried to wake the man up, but there was no response. Paramedics were called, and he was declared dead,” police spokesperson Captain Gerald Mfeka said.
There were no visible injuries on the man, who was believed to be in his 30s.
His body was then taken to the Port Shepstone state mortuary, where a postmortem would be conducted.
In a similar incident, a man’s body was discovered in Centurion Lake, south of Pretoria, when a security guard was patrolling the area last month.
It was believed the man had died of natural causes. However, police said the possibility of foul play would be investigated.
A few days before that, the decomposing body of an unidentified man was found in the Roodeplaat dam in Pretoria.
It was believed the man, who had gone fishing, had drowned after his canoe overturned during a thunderstorm.
