One killed, another wounded in Centurion pizza store shootout
A mother with a baby were reported to have been assessed after they narrowly escaped the cross fire.
A suspect was killed during a botched robbery on Saturday, in Centurion, Pretoria Rekord reports.
Another suspect was critically wounded. This suspect and two others were arrested on the scene.
This happened after four alleged armed robbers attempted to rob a pizza store at Mall@55 in Mnandi, said CERT-SA spokesperson Ruan Heyns.
Heyns said police acted on information that a robbery was going to take place at the mall and “as the suspects arrived a shootout ensued between the alleged robbers and the police”.
Heyns said no other people were reported to have been injured in the incident, however, a mother with a baby were assessed after they narrowly escaped the cross fire.
Police spokesperson for the Tshwane District Constable Tumisang Moloto said confirmed that three people were arrested and an unlincesed firearm confiscated.
“In Olivenhoutbosch police and Solutions Security intercepted a group of armed suspects during business robbery at R55 mall.”
Moloto said members had retaliated after they were shot at.
“In the process one suspect was shot and killed another wounded and three others were arrested with an unlicensed firearm recovered.”
Mall@55 management was yet to give comment.
