Suné Luus, who captained the Proteas Women to the T20 World Cup final earlier this year, has relinquished the role ahead of next month’s tour of Pakistan.

CSA yesterday said that the new captain would be announced before the tour to ensure ‘a seamless transition and continued success for the team’.

The tour will feature a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series, from September 1 to 14, with all matches to be played at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Seamer Tumi Sekhukhune, who narrowly missed out on T20 World Cup selection after being named as part of the non-travelling reserves for the tournament, has been included in a 15-member Proteas squad.

All-rounder Chloé Tryon, who requested a leave of absence, and Annerie Dercksen, who is recovering from a fractured finger on her right hand, will miss the tour.

KZN Dolphins all-rounder Nondumiso Shangase has been recalled to the Proteas squad, while Mieke de Ridder, a wicketkeeper-batter from the Garden Route Badgers, has received a maiden call-up.
