Robbers hit Pretoria mall

Three armed men dressed in courier service uniforms are still at large after they robbed a jewellery store in Lynnwood Bridge Mall, Pretoria, this morning.

Three armed men dressed in courier service overalls robbed the Louie Daniele Diamond Corporation in the Lynnwood Bridge Mall on Wednesday morning.

Police spokesperson Captain Koba Brits said the three men armed with shotguns had walked into the store at about 9.45am and ordered 11 employees and clients into a backroom, Rekord Eastreported.

Brits added the robbers had ransacked the store and fled with an iPad and jewellery.

The total value of the stolen items was not immediately known, police said.

No shots were fired and there were no injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.

The video, captured on Sunday morning, shows terrified shoppers scurrying away and taking cover as a group of about nine men armed with handguns and hammers storm into the mall.

The suspects then proceed to smash the display cabinets of a jewellery stall with hammers before placing items of jewellery into bags.

The store’s co-owner, Ebrahim Harris, told The Citizen the robbers caused damage amounting to about R600 000.
