Search for missing Mbombela anaesthetist launched

Dr Nicholas Procter did not show up for work this morning, and his vehicle was found on the Elawini bridge.

The family of Mbombela anaesthetist Dr Nicholas Procter asks the public to come forward with any information that could assist them in finding him.

Procter (40) was reported missing this morning when he did not show up for work. His vehicle was, however, spotted on the Elawini bridge later this morning.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Captain Mangonseni Nkosi says he had been reported missing to the police at 10:00. The police, SARZA Lowveld, the Ehlanzeni Police Diving Unit, the SAPS Flying Squad, local emergency medical services and security companies were immediately dispatched to the bridge to begin the search.

The river and surrounding areas were searched, but he has not been found yet. Investigations are ongoing.

Procter’s stepfather Jacob Vorster and his mother, Margaret, have appealed to those with information that could lead to his whereabouts, to contact the police.
