Security ‘beats’ man with chain at Bedfordview nightclub

According to an eyewitness, a scuffle had broken out between two patrons and bouncers at an unnamed club on December 12, Bedfordview Edenvale News reported.

“This happened at about 1am,” said the witness.

He added once the fight had ended, security guards arrived at the scene.

“The guys involved in the fight were speaking when one of the security guards pulled out his pepper spray and sprayed everyone,” said the witness.

“A security guard then attacked one of the men with a chain,” he said.

The man was then allegedly handcuffed while security and some of the nightclub’s bouncers continued their attack on him.

“The victim’s phone, wallet and car keys were taken from him,” said the witness.

He added the victim only received his emptied wallet and car keys the following day.

“His phone was never returned to him,” said the witness.

He added the man was then left to bleed on the floor inside the nightclub while bouncers and security guards simply watched.

According to the witness, when patrons asked members of the Bedfordview police to intervene, they were told the matter would be “sorted out” the following day.

“An off-duty paramedic attended to the man and an ambulance was called. The man was taken to hospital, where he received treatment for his wounds,” said the witness.

Bedfordview police spokesperson Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabthi confirmed that a case was opened.

Investigations are ongoing.

In a separate incident, Pretoria police are investigating a case of assault after Arielle Bourbon (23), a third-year law student, was allegedly beaten by two women in the parking lot of a nightclub outside the Menlyn Piazza in December.

The altercation started when one of the women reportedly called the student “fat”, Rekord Mootreported.

The women allegedly kicked and stepped on Bourbon with high heels.
